Even in Budapest, the Bauhaus era left behind some very interesting and valuable buildings. One of its centres is the inner part of Buda, the Pasarét, which started to infiltrate during the 1930s. In 1931, following to the Stuttgart model, the capital allowed for an entire street to be built in by various designers and entrepreneurs sensitive to modern architecture. The buildings were erected on rather small building plots because of diversified plans. A tiny square can be found in the middle of the street where we may rest a while and on the memorial stone we can read the names of the 22 architects. Many of the houses were re-built, the original character of the buildings however, were preserved. From the street we may also take a splendid tour in the Buda forests, or strolling down the quite streets, we may visit the nearby Memorial Building of Bartók Béla (the Bartók Emlékház).
